Take the guess work out of spring over axle conversions with our self-aligning perches. Simply rest the bottoms of these on the top of your factory spring perch and know that your axle will be in perfect alignment. Note: welding not required. You could just connect the u-bolts and be on your way. But we recommend that, once you are satisfied that everything is lined up and working to your satisfaction that you come back later and weld a bead on each of these perches to give you the ut-most peace of mind.
NOTE ON WELDING: When you do decide to weld, be careful not to put too much heat on the Suzuki axle tubes. They are thin walled. What we like to do is weld a 1" bead on each perch - giving time for the first one to cool down. Then repeating with another 1" bead on each perch in a different location. Repeate this process until you are satisfied with your welds. Don't lay down too long of a weld bead at any one location and you'll be just fine.
Includes 3 axle placement holes on the top so that you can easily relocate your axles forward or backward to increase articulation and decrease clearance issues.
Designed specifically for the Suzuki Samurai so, before you ask, YES! the front perches account for the different sized axle tubing left and right on the Samurai. (we've been doing this since 1998 so we KNOW Samurais)
Important: if you've been told not to use this style of perch because you can’t “fine tune” the pinion angles for custom suspensions….fear not. We’ve thought of that already. The lower arms are thin and pointy so that you can easily grind/cut a little off one side or the other if you need a pinion angle other than the one pre-set by these perches.
